Nicholas & Tate

Well goodness, I don't even know where to start with this blog post! Nicholas and Tate's wedding was absolutely fantastic. The emotion, the details, the flame throwers!! Okay....I should probably just start at the beginning :)

About two months ago, my friend Tina with History in the Making Special Events sent me a text to the tune of "Hey! I might be organizing a gay wedding at an event in Lindley Park this fall. You interested?" Of course I was! Over the next few days I found out about the The Interchange Symposium, a yearly event that brings together artists, activists and entrepreneurs in an awesome way. This year, the Symposium was putting on a Remix Runway Show (think variety show on a runway) and the grand finale was going to be a gay wedding provided by local vendors to an engaged couple at either low or no cost. Two awesome guys from Helena were the lucky ones to receive this amazing opportunity. At the time, Nicholas and Tate were planning their wedding for the next summer, so they quickly started to re-plan for a September wedding at the Interchange Symposium!

*PS* A lot of AMAZING vendors contributed to this big day, so as I go through and describe the awesomeness, definitely check out these businesses because they really made it happen!

Fast forwarding to the the big day, I met up with Tate and Nicholas at an awesome downtown apartment that was provided to them for the weekend. There was a pretty sweet patio in between the walls of the building outside, so we took a few fun getting ready photos out there. I grabbed a quick photo of the guys looking awesome in their tuxedos, contributed by After 5 and Weddings. Aaand then of course, I had to get a photo of their awesome socks. I know what you're thinking: I take a lot of sock pictures. It's not weird you guys....I just love cool socks okay?!

After that, we headed down to Lindley Park to check out the event and a few of the details that were set up for this awesome wedding. Julio at Kirkham & Company provided some absolutely amazing pieces. The groom's boutonnieres were fantastic, and the centerpieces were innovative and stunning. I mean...there was fruit in the flowers! Whaaat?! Amazing.

The desserts were provided by LUXE and they were equal parts gorgeous and delicious. Rainbow was definitely the theme of this wedding, and I feel like LUXE added that concept in with a subtlety that was just perfect. Nicely done!

After a few details shots, we got ready to take formal photos of the family, wedding party, and happy couple. Nicholas and Tate had a stellar wedding party, and we had a blast taking photos at the park. Everyone was dressed to create Roy G Biv. Well....maybe it was closer to Roy G Bip. Because come on....who actually says indigo or violet when they talk about purple? Amiright?! Anyway, I digress. The fact is....everyone looked absolutely fanfreakingtastic.

Right as we were finishing up wedding party photos, the sunset light started to come through the trees and good gravy it was glorious. The light, the love, the location....it all came together and we got some pretty stellar photos of these two handsome grooms.

*Full Disclosure* I'd never posed two grooms before and I was honestly a little bit nervous. I was worried about posing them wrong or making them uncomfortable or, lord forbid, saying something stupid because my mouth talks before my brain thinks. You know what's awesome about photographing people in love though? It's beautiful no matter who it is. The emotion was genuine, Tate and Nicholas were filled with happiness and love for one another, and that made it almost too easy to take gorgeous photos for them. This right here is my favorite photo. Ever. Thank you guys for letting me be a part of this :)

While we waited for Nicholas and Tate's ceremony to start, they cut their cake, had a few toasts from friends and family, and we got to watch the awesome Remix Runway show!  It was really cool to be able to see all of the amazing performers. Plus....how awesome would it be to get a show on your wedding day?! Here are a couple of the acts that we saw.

As the runway show came to an end, everyone started getting ready for the ceremony. Tate Chamberlin with Chamberlin Productions officiated and did an absolutely fantastic job. Plus, I need to give him a huge shout out because he was the mastermind behind the entire Interchange event. As the ceremony started, the excitement was seriously incredible! There was so much love and support from the groom's friends and family, and to top it off there was also the support of everyone at the event itself! Tate and Nicholas were all smiles throughout the entire ceremony and that first kiss was met with the amazing sound of cheers from everyone in the park :)

The atmosphere of celebration continued after the ceremony as Tate and Nicholas signed their marriage license! I don't always post the wedding license photo on my Facebook or Blog, but I love these photos so much because of how meaningful this moment was to the couple.

Congratulations to Nicholas and Tate! Being able to photograph your wedding was amazing and special and emotional and a whole bunch of other awesome things that I can't even put into words :) When I look at your photos it makes my heart happy. Everyone deserves love. Everyone deserves happiness. I am so thrilled that you've both found yours and can cherish that for the rest of your lives. Best wishes and happy forever!
